Photography Equipment

June 14th, 2009

I use Canon cameras for the majority of my photography. I have stayed loyal to Canon from my first AE1 through to a EOS 3. I joined the digital photography revolution with a Canon 20D, and a Canon Powershot G9. Now I’m using the fantastic  Powershot G11 and a Canon 5D and 7D SLR’s. I have found them all amazingly reliable and durable. I only use Canon lenses including a 70-200 f2.8L, 17-40  f4L, 85 f1.8 and 300 f4L.

Strangely and almost unwittingly I have become a iphoneographer, initially using a Apple iPhone 3g and now a Apple iPhone 4 mainly shooting with the Hipstamatic App – http://alexekins.co.uk/hipstamatic/ and Instagram

I also own and use a Rolleiflex and a Holga, both medium format.

For computing I exclusively use Apple including a Apple Powerbook G4 and more recently an Apple MacBook Pro. My Apple addiction is further fed by an iPad. My photo editing software is Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I use the amazing ioSafe Rugged external hard drive for back up.

My clothing is hugely important for staying alive in the harsh environments that I find myself working in. I am extremely grateful to Rab for supplying me with the finest outdoor clothing in the world. Wild Country supply harnesses, hardware and helmets.

I am carrying my kit around in F-stop bags and backpacks, currently using a Satori EXP and a Guru.
